Péter Szuppinger has 17+ years of experience in designing and implementing projects in the fields of resource efficiency, energy related topics, waste and circular economy, air quality, climate change and industrial emissions, eco-innovation, sustainable consumption issues, green and innovative public procurement, urban sustainable development. He has worked mainly on projects supporting the development of new environmental policies, strategies and initiatives and as well as the analysis and evaluation of existing ones on European, national and local level. Among others he has been an expert responsible for the Thematic Research Summary on heating and cooling from renewables and responsible for data collection and analysis on Hungary in the frame of Energy Research Knowledge Centre for DG ENER; has contributed to the analysis of cases of implementing resource efficient policies by the EU industry for DG Environment; has been a thematic expert on resource efficiency and circular economy for Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform, an expert evaluator for the EU Sustainable Energy Award, has participated in the review of the Eco-innovation Action Plan (EcoAP) for DG Environment. He worked on and contributed to several FP7 (Delib SCP, SPREAD, ZEROWIN), and HORIZON 2020 (ClairCity, PLANHEAT) projects. From 2019, he is coordinating the UIA financed E-Co-Housing project (Co-creating a Regenerative Housing Project Together with the Community).
He has a master degree in geography and history from the University of Szeged and a specialization in the field of Social and Economic Geography (innovation in energy industry).
As a passionate environmentalist, he spends his free time mostly in nature, walking, hiking and gardening.
